Gujarat Teen Killed in suspected honor killing

An 18-year-old girl from Gujarat’s Banaskantha district, allegedly murdered in a suspected honour killing, has cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) with good marks, police said on Wednesday.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Suman Nala, the teen was killed on June 24 in her native village, allegedly by her father and two uncles, who opposed her live-in relationship with a man in Palanpur, where she had moved to prepare for NEET.

The victim’s father, Sendhabhai Patel, and uncle, Shivrambhai Patel, were booked following a complaint from her partner, Haresh Chaudhary. Police later arrested their cousin, Naran Patel, while Sendhabhai remains absconding.

Investigations revealed the family allegedly wanted to marry her off to someone else. Chaudhary, who is already married with a child, reportedly met the victim after offering her a lift from Tharad to Palanpur.
